In-House Counsel Say Corruption Work On The Rise

Law360, New York (October 12, 2010, 11:22 PM EDT) -- Corporate counsel at major companies have increased their use of outside counsel to advise on corruption matters, including those under the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the U.K.'s new bribery law, according to the 2010 Fulbright & Jaworski LLP Litigation Trends Survey.

The survey, released Wednesday, found that 16 percent of all companies engaged outside counsel over the last 12 months to assist with a bribery or corruption investigation — up from 12 percent in the 2009 survey.
