House Creates New Committee On Global Warming

Law360, New York (March 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a move seen as a coup for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the U.S. House of Representatives voted on Thursday to create a committee on global warming and energy independence.

The new committee was cleared by a vote of 228 to 195. While it demonstrated a departure from Capitol Hill’s lackluster response to climate change in recent years, it also underscored a rift among Democrats on how to address the problem.
