Show Me The Studies, FERC Tells Canada

Law360, New York (March 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- While the Canadian government has waged opposition to two proposed liquefied natural gas terminals off the coast of Maine, it has yet to supply evidence that the projects pose environmental and safety risks, the U.S Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said Friday.

FERC Chairman Joseph T. Kelliher has told the Canadian ambassador to the United States that he should share any evidence about possible risks from the projects so that they can be evaluated in FERC’s environmental impact statements on the projects.
