US To Investigate China's Aid To Green Tech Sector

Law360, New York (October 15, 2010, 4:07 PM EDT) -- The U.S. government launched an investigation Friday into allegations lodged by the United Steelworkers that China has used cutthroat trade practices to dominate the global green technology sector.

Heeding a Section 301 petition by the union and cries of support from members of Congress, U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk on Friday agreed to look into whether China has violated World Trade Organization rules with its policies to protect and subsidize its domestic producers of clean energy products.
