PCA, Insurers Win New Trial In $5M Liability Verdict

Law360, New York (October 18, 2010, 2:19 PM EDT) -- A Florida appeals court has reversed a jury's award of more than $5 million to the wife of a man killed in a 2001 car wreck, ruling that the lower court exceeded its authority in delivering a liability verdict against the company that employed the driver and its insurers.

PCA, Great American Insurance Co. and Zurich American Insurance Co. will get a new trial in the matter of the death of Douglas DeRycke, according to an opinion Florida's Second District Court of Appeal issued Friday....
