Allstate Disputes Order To Reinstate Policies

Law360, New York (March 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Allstate Corp. has challenged an order from Louisiana’s insurance commissioner that demands the insurer reinstate thousands of homeowner policies it scrapped in four parishes wrecked by Hurricane Katrina.

Allstate appealed Commissioner Jim Donelon’s order on Thursday to the Division of Administrative Law, the state body overseeing disputes with state agencies. Allstate, Louisiana’s second-largest provider of homeowner’s insurance, asked the court to determine whether Donelon had misused his authority and whether he had conducted an adequate review.
