Italian Watchdog Probes Italgas Over Withheld Info

Law360, New York (October 20, 2010, 3:56 PM EDT) -- Italy's competition watchdog is launching an investigation into whether Snam Rete Gas SpA subsidiary Italgas abused its dominant position as a gas distributor by refusing to fork over information to the cities of Rome and Todi.

The Autorita Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato will try to ascertain if Italgas impeded competition by delaying or refusing to produce information the two cities needed to put together invitations to submit bids for their gas distribution concessions, the watchdog announced Wednesday.
