BP Hit With Endangered Species Suit Over Gulf Spill

Law360, New York (October 20, 2010, 1:49 PM EDT) -- Defenders of Wildlife and other environmental groups sued BP PLC on Wednesday, demanding the oil giant do more to address the damage the Deepwater Horizon oil spill has done to endangered species in the Gulf of Mexico region.

Defenders of Wildlife, the Gulf Restoration Network Inc. and Save the Manatee Club Inc. filed their complaint in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, alleging BP has violated the Endangered Species Act’s prohibition on the take of threatened animals.
