Norway Revives Bid For WTO Action On EU Seal Ban

Law360, New York (October 22, 2010, 12:31 PM EDT) -- Norway has renewed its request for the World Trade Organization to examine the European Union's efforts to bar the import and sale of seal products, arguing that even the limited exceptions to the ban are discriminatory.

In a letter dated Tuesday, the Norwegian delegation informed the EU and the chair of the WTO's Dispute Settlement Body that it again sought consultations over the ban, which has also been challenged by the Canadian government and an Inuit group.
