EU Clears $4B Reckitt-SSL Deal With Divestitures

Law360, New York (October 25, 2010, 5:06 PM EDT) -- The European Commission on Monday cleared Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC's £2.54 billion ($3.9 billion) acquisition of consumer products company SSL International PLC, owner of the Durex condoms and Scholl foot care brands, in exchange for certain divestitures.

The EC said its approval hinged on Reckitt Benckiser's commitment to divest SSL brands for mouth pain relief products in the U.K. and Ireland.
