Oil Cos. Seek Philippines Supreme Court Ruling Reversal

Law360, New York (March 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Affiliates of Royal Dutch Shell PLC and Chevron Corp. have appealed a Philippines Supreme Court ruling which would force them to close an oil terminal due to fears of a terrorist attack.

Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp., Chevron Philippines Inc. and Petron Corp. filed a motion to intervene Tuesday, saying that closing the terminal would create a fuel shortage and hurt the national economy. The companies, which have six months to leave, have said the terminal hosts about 50% of the country’s fuel requirements
