Ore. Settles Hanford Cleanup Fight Against DOE

Law360, New York (October 26, 2010, 1:13 PM EDT) -- The state of Oregon has settled claims against the U.S. Department of Energy over the cleanup of hazardous waste at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Washington state, which Oregon alleged posed a threat to its residents.

U.S. Judge Fred Van Sickle of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington approved on Monday a settlement requiring the DOE to provide intervenor-plaintiff Oregon with regular reports regarding the Hanford cleanup.
