Actavis Recalls Pain Patches Over Dosage Fears

Law360, New York (October 26, 2010, 1:34 PM EDT) -- Actavis Inc. has recalled 18 lots of fentanyl pain-treatment patches because of concerns that the products could release the drug too quickly, causing oversedation and breathing problems.

The U.S. unit of Icelandic pharmaceutical maker Actavis Group said Thursday it was pulling lots of its fentanyl transdermal system patches from retailers and wholesalers in the United States. The affected patches come in a 25 mcg per hour dose, the company said.
