GE Recalls 174K Dishwashers Over Fire Hazard

Law360, New York (October 27, 2010, 1:23 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission and General Electric Co. on Wednesday announced the voluntary recall of about 174,000 dishwashers due to a potential fire hazard.

The recall affects GE Profile dishwashers manufactured between July 2003 and December 2005 and GE Monogram dishwashers manufactured between January 2004 and December 2006, according to the CPSC.

Water condensation can drip onto the electronic control board of those appliances, causing a short circuit and resulting in an overheated connector, according to the CPSC.
