Sandoz Pulls Methotrexate Lots Over Vial Defects

Law360, New York (October 29, 2010, 11:27 AM EDT) -- Sandoz Inc. has voluntarily recalled 24 lots of Sandoz- and Parenta-brand methotrexate injection after discovering glass flakes in vials of the medication that could be lethal in rare cases.

Sandoz, Novartis International AG’s generics maker, on Thursday issued the recall of all 50-milligram/ 2-milliliter and 250-mg/ 10-mL vials of methotrexate in the United States, reporting that the company’s quality control team had found flakes in a limited number of vials from four lots of the medication.
