La. Court Puts GSK Back On Hook For Toxic Cattle Rinse

Law360, New York (October 29, 2010, 2:18 PM EDT) -- A Louisiana appeals court has revived allegations that a chemical company now owned by SmithKline Beecham Corp. is liable for poisoning groundwater with a toxic bath used decades ago to kill ticks on cattle.

The Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal's majority opinion faulted the trial court for numerous missteps and determined that some 27 plaintiffs are in fact able to proceed with a consolidated suit alleging that Cooper’s Cattle Dip contaminated local wells in a farming area now riddled with high arsenic levels and elevated...
