Treasury Seeks Input On Potential Forex Exemption

Law360, New York (October 29, 2010, 3:55 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Treasury is asking the public to weigh in on whether foreign exchange swaps should be exempted from the regulations for over-the-counter derivatives being revised by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as required by the recently enacted financial reform law.

In a notice published in the Oct. 29 Federal Register, the Treasury Department noted that the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act allows the Secretary of the Treasury to issue a written order exempting foreign exchange swaps, foreign exchange forwards...
