Think Tank Urges FERC To Reform Merger Policies

Law360, New York (March 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission should change the way it analyzes mergers in the electricity sector to encourage more interagency cooperation and independent study of potential effects, according to an antitrust think tank.

Although the weaknesses in FERC’s review process have long been present, the issue has become more pressing as electricity mergers have grown to involve more companies in more states, Diana Moss, vice president of the American Antitrust Institute, told the Commission.
