GE Takes On Customs Over Duties On Water Purifiers

Law360, New York (November 2, 2010, 3:28 PM EDT) -- A General Electric Co. subsidiary has filed a suit to protest allegedly incorrect duties levied by the U.S. government on membrane filters used in water purification devices

U.S. Customs and Border Protection applied a 3.8 percent duty meant for textiles to Zenon Environmental Inc.'s imports, when it had the option of applying a proper tariff with no duty, Zenon said Friday in a complaint filed in the U.S. Court of International Trade.
