Political Consultant Seeks Court Atty In Bribery Appeal

Law360, New York (November 2, 2010, 5:29 PM EDT) -- Disgraced Michigan political consultant Samuel L. Riddle Jr. has asked for a court-appointed attorney to help him take a battle to withdraw his guilty plea in a bribery and extortion scandal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Riddle’s one-sentence request, pleading indigence, was filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Judge Marianne O. Battani sentenced Riddle to three years in prison on Oct. 7 after he pled guilty to partnering with Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers...
