Exxon, CBS Off Hook For $3.7M Pa. Landfill Cleanup

Law360, New York (November 4, 2010, 2:11 PM EDT) -- Exxon Mobil Corp., CBS Corp. and Carnegie Mellon University have won their bid to escape the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's suit seeking the recovery of $3.7 million in response costs it incurred cleaning up hazardous contamination at an old landfill in western Pennsylvania.

Magistrate Judge Lisa Pupo Lenihan of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania dismissed the suit with prejudice as to the three defendants Wednesday, ruling that the state's cost recovery action was barred by the three-year statute of limitations...
