Polypore To Appeal FTC Divestiture Ruling

Law360, New York (November 9, 2010, 4:30 PM EST) -- Polypore International Inc. has vowed to appeal the Federal Trade Commission's ruling that it must sell off the assets of Microporous Products LP, a competitor the tech company acquired for $76 million in 2008, because of antitrust concerns.

The company, which manufactures membranes used in batteries and medical devices, said Monday that the FTC commissioners had affirmed an initial decision authored by FTC Chief Administrative Law Judge D. Michael Chappell that deemed the acquisition anti-competitive and required Polypore to sell its stake in Microporous.
