E.U. Says Unbundling Support Is Sufficient

Law360, New York (March 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Despite opposition from energy firms and governments alike, European Union officials reportedly now believe they have enough support to move forward with its proposals to increase competition in the energy sector by forcing companies to unbundle their production and distribution capabilities.

Senior E.U. officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said they believe they have the backing of governments to draft rules lessening the control that power production companies have over the infrastructure that delivers supplies, the Associated Press reported Friday.
