Korean Companies Targeted by Piracy, Survey Finds

Law360, New York (October 30, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- At least one out of 10 Korean companies have had their intellectual property infringed upon, the Korea Herald reported Thursday, citing a survey released by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Piracy of Korean products is on the rise both domestically and internationally, the survey found. With the mounting popularity of cultural exports such as music, film and fashion throughout Asia, the country's industry has become increasingly exposed to threats from counterfeiting and bootlegging, especially in markets such as China.
