Ex-Scrushy Bodyguard Wins $1.9M

Law360, New York (March 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A security officer at HealthSouth Corp. who was fired along with the company’s embattled CEO has won a wrongful termination suit against the company, a verdict that came with a $1.9 million payday.

Former HealthSouth security chief James Goodreau, who once served as one-time CEO Richard Scrushy’s bodyguard, sued the Birmingham-based health care provider on the grounds that his termination violated a lifetime job guarantee that came with the position.
