Navigating China’s New Tort Liability Law

Law360, New York (November 12, 2010, 1:50 PM EST) -- Three months after China’s multifaceted new tort liability law became effective, there is little news regarding its enforcement.

This does not mean, however, that companies operating in China can now continue with “business as usual.” Indeed, the typical timeline of a civil case in China would suggest that decisions based on claims under the law will soon start to materialize. In the meantime, a careful review of the language of the law suggests that compliance is not something to be taken lightly.
