S. Africa Raids Moving Cos. In Price-Fixing Probe

Law360, New York (November 11, 2010, 4:07 PM EST) -- South Africa’s competition watchdog has raided four major moving and storage companies suspected of price-fixing, market allocation and other cartel abuses.

On Thursday, the country's Competition Commission announced it was conducting a search-and-seizure operation at four furniture-removal companies accused of driving down competition and ramping up profits on government and private sector jobs.

Investigators raided five different locations in the Western Cape and Gauten provinces, territories that include the major cities of Cape Town, Pretoria and Johannesburg, according to the commission.
