Bouchard Settles Federal, State Oil Spill Claims For $6M

Law360, New York (November 15, 2010, 7:24 PM EST) -- Bouchard Transportation Co. Inc. and its affiliates have agreed to pay $6 million as part of a settlement of federal and state natural resource damages claims stemming from an April 2003 oil spill that dumped nearly 100,000 gallons of oil into Buzzards Bay off the Massachusetts coast.

The settlement, announced Monday by the U.S. Department of Justice and state regulators from Massachusetts and Rhode Island, will be added to damage assessment costs of almost $1.6 million for federal and state governments, the agencies said.
