Drink Makers Pan FDA's Alcopop Decision, Process

Law360, New York (November 17, 2010, 7:31 PM EST) -- Alcoholic beverage companies targeted by U.S. Food and Drug Administration warning letters admonishing them over the addition of caffeine to their drinks are chafing at the agency's decision, claiming that their products are safe, follow FDA guidelines and are responsibly marketed.

On Wednesday the FDA told Phusion Projects LLC, Charge Beverages Corp., New Century Brewing Co. and United Brands Co. that caffeine is considered an “unsafe food additive” in their alcoholic beverages.
