Protein Drink Maker Tries To Stop Ethanol Plant

Law360, New York (March 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Wisconsin dairy products manufacturer has filed suit against the building of an ethanol plant next door, arguing that pollution generated by the plant could end up contaminating its products.

Century Foods International, a division of Hormel Foods Corp., claims that fumes from the ethanol plant would taint the dairy-based products it manufactures.

Located in Sparta, Wis., Century Foods uses dairy products to manufacture the proteins and nutraceuticals found in goods such as muscle-building, weight-loss and ready-to-drink milk powders.
