OFT Shuts Leniency Door But Opens Window

Law360, New York (March 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In an unusual move, the Office of Fair Trading has decided to offer supposed members of a cartel in the British construction industry another way to receive reduced penalties after refusing to accept any more leniency applications.

On Thursday, the British competition agency revealed that it had decided to “fast track” its ongoing bid-rigging investigation by promising additional financial relief to suspected cartel members in exchange for their cooperation.
