Continental Settles Decade-Long Reinsurance Fight

Law360, New York (November 19, 2010, 5:12 PM EST) -- Continental Casualty Co. has settled a decade-long, multimillion-dollar reinsurance dispute with Portman Insurance Co. Ltd. that spanned two continents and centered around the construction of a Missouri power plant.

On Thursday, the parties filed a notice of voluntary stipulated dismissal with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, and the case was closed that same day.

A corresponding action pending in the U.K. has also been resolved, according to people familiar with the matter.
