US Tape Makers Seek Duty On Indonesia's Pitamas

Law360, New York (November 19, 2010, 12:00 AM EST) -- Indonesia's self-adhesive plastic tape industry, controlled by PT Pitamas Indonusa, is competitive in the global market and should not get preferential duty-free treatment for its exports to the U.S., a group of domestic producers including 3M Co. has told the U.S. International Trade Commission.

The Pressure Sensitive Tape Council's brief, filed with the commission Wednesday, seeks to have Indonesia's duty-free treatment under the U.S. Generalized System of Preferences withdrawn.

Such a decision would subject Pitamas, which is responsible for the "vast majority" of the country's U.S....
