Shire Ensnares Another Generic Co. Over Adderall

Law360 (March 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Drug maker Shire PLC has added to its hit list of generic drug companies, claiming Actavis Group hf infringed its patents covering hyperactivity drug Adderall XR.

U.K.-based unit Shire LLC filed suit Tuesday against the Icelandic company and its subsidiaries, Actavis Inc. and Colony Pharmaceuticals Inc. The complaint alleges Actavis infringed three patents in filing its abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for various versions of Adderall.

Actavis is the sixth company Shire has sued over the patents, which expire in 2018.
