CVS Settles Claims Over Discharges At Conn. Stores

Law360, New York (November 24, 2010, 3:59 PM EST) -- A CVS Caremark Corp. unit has agreed to pay $268,900 to settle allegations that its Connecticut stores improperly disposed of wastewater contaminated with photo-processing chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection said Tuesday that Connecticut CVS Pharmacy LLC would pay the fine and make improvements to its environmental practices.

"This case shows the importance of monitoring compliance with laws designed to protect natural resources and the public health,” DEP Commissioner Amey Marrella said in a statement.
