NZ Air Ambulance Cos. Settle Price-Fixing Claims

Law360, New York (November 24, 2010, 4:56 PM EST) -- New Zealand's competition watchdog has reached settlements with two former rival air ambulance providers over claims that they fixed prices for emergency evacuations to the country in 2009.

The New Zealand Commerce Commission issued formal warnings to Maccawat Ltd. and CareFlight (Qld) Ltd. in exchange for a confession that the two companies, which have since merged, inadvertently violated the country's antitrust law by agreeing on what price CareFlight would quote for an evacuation, the regulator said Wednesday.
