Ex-Va. Finance Secretary Gets 10-Year Prison Term

Law360, New York (November 24, 2010, 6:47 PM EST) -- Former Virginia Secretary of Finance John W. Forbes II, who admitted to bilking the state's tobacco settlement fund of millions of dollars, has been sentenced to spend 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud in August.  

Forbes was sentenced Tuesday by Judge Henry E. Hudson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. In addition to the prison term, Forbes was ordered to pay the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission $4 million in restitution.
