CPSC Finalizes New Database After Fierce Debate

Law360, New York (November 24, 2010, 1:12 PM EST) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Wednesday gave final approval to a new consumer product safety database, following a testy exchange between the commissioners over who should be permitted to submit incident reports and how they should be verified and published.

CPSC commissioners split along party lines in a 3-2 vote to finalize a rule implementing the new database, authorized by Congress in the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008.
