Energy Lobbyist Pleads Guilty In Abramoff Scandal

Law360, New York (March 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Steven Griles, an oil and gas lobbyist and former deputy secretary of the Department of the Interior, pled guilty on Friday to obstructing the Senate’s investigation of fallen lobbying giant Jack Abramoff.

Griles, who was instrumental in shaping President Bush’s 2005 Energy Act, admitted to lying to the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs about his close relationship with Abramoff, who represented Native American tribal leaders.
