Alzheimer's Group Hits UPenn, Avid With Patent Suit

Law360, New York (November 29, 2010, 8:13 PM EST) -- Alzheimer’s Institute of America Inc. is alleging the University of Pennsylvania and its offshoot Avid Radiopharmaceuticals Inc. infringed two patents when they developed leading-edge technology for detecting Alzheimer’s disease.

The complaint, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, claims the defendants developed and commercialized molecular imaging agents using genetically engineered mice that are covered by AIA’s patents.
