WTO Tells Aussies To Review NZ Apple Import Rules

Law360, New York (November 29, 2010, 6:31 PM EST) -- The World Trade Organization's appeals body largely rejected Australia's long-standing rules limiting apple imports from New Zealand on Monday, ruling that many of the restrictions were not backed up by sufficient scientific evidence.

The WTO Appellate Body released a report recommending that Australia be ordered to revise its restrictions on New Zealand apple imports based on concerns about fire blight and apple leafcurling midge.
