DOJ Says No To Amnesty Program For FCPA Cases

Law360, New York (November 30, 2010, 6:46 PM EST) -- A U.S. Department of Justice official told lawmakers on Tuesday that prosecutors would not implement an amnesty program for businesspeople who bribe foreign officials, one suggestion that's been put forward as the corporate community grapples with a prodigious increase in the prosecution of such cases.

"We don't believe that immunity is appropriate, just as we don't believe that a bank robber could get immunity for disclosing that he robbed a bank," said Greg Andres, Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the Justice Department's criminal division, in testimony...
