Applera Sues Thermo Electron Over Mass Spectrometer Patent

Law360 (September 8, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Medical device maker Applera and its subsidiary Applied Biosystems/ MDS Scientific Instruments have sued rival Thermo Electron Corporation for patent infringement in a dispute over mass spectrometer systems.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, alleges that Thermo Electron's mass spectrometer systems infringe U.S. patent number 4,963,736 entitled "Mass Spectrometer and Method and Improved Ion Transmission."
