ACCC Worries Asahi-P&N Combo May Boost Soda Prices

Law360, New York (December 2, 2010, 3:48 PM EST) -- Australian antitrust enforcers expressed worries Thursday that Asahi Breweries Ltd.'s AU$364 million ($322 million) bid for P&N Beverages Australia Pty. Ltd. would likely lead to a major drop in competition for the wholesale supply of carbonated soft drinks.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission asked for comments on its statement of issues to the Japanese beverage giant's planned buyout of Australia's third-largest soft drink provider.
