Tech Cos. Back Pentalpha On Induced Infringement

Law360 (December 8, 2010, 7:33 PM EST) -- A slew of companies including Microsoft Corp., Comcast Corp. and General Motors LLC, along with two tech industry groups, has thrown its weight behind Pentalpha Enterprises Ltd.'s efforts to get the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn an appeals court's finding that “deliberate indifference of a known risk” constitutes induced patent infringement.

The organizations filed amicus briefs Monday in support of Pentalpha's position in a case that will allow the high court to clarify whether actual knowledge of a patent is necessary to prove an inducement claim....
