AmEx Hit With Patent Suit Over Contactless Cards

Law360 (December 9, 2010, 2:20 PM EST) -- American Express Co. has become the latest credit card company targeted with patent infringement allegations by SmartMetric Inc. over contactless card systems.

In a suit filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, SmartMetric accuses American Express of infringing the same patent it asserted in March in a suit against MasterCard Inc. and Visa Inc. in the same court.
