New House Judiciary Chief Eyes White House Oversight

Law360 (December 10, 2010, 3:57 PM EST) -- Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, has been tapped to become the new chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and plans to focus his efforts on fighting terrorism, cracking down on illegal immigration and initiating "strenuous oversight of the Obama administration."

Smith has been the lead Republican on the committee for the last four years and was selected as chairman on Wednesday.
