RAE To Pay DOJ $1.7M In Chinese Bribery Case

Law360, New York (December 13, 2010, 4:50 PM EST) -- RAE Systems Inc. has agreed to pay the U.S. Department of Justice $1.7 million to avoid prosecution on claims that the gas and radiation detector company violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by paying off Chinese officials in exchange for government contracts.

The nonprosecution agreement with the DOJ, announced Friday, came a day after a similar $1.2 million settlement between the company and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
