Exxon, Chevron, Others Tainted Florida's Water: Suits

Law360, New York (March 28, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Three billion-dollar lawsuits have been filed against some of the biggest players in the petroleum industry, alleging that a gasoline additive has contaminated local water supplies in Florida and that the defendants disregarded the additive’s hazards.

The lawsuits were filed Monday in federal court in Florida’s Middle District by the City of Inverness Water District, the Homosassa Water District and the City of Tampa Bay Water District against a slew of defendants including Chevron Corp., ExxonMobil Corp. Amerada Hess Corp. and Citgo Petroleum Corp.
