Ex-Auditor Criticizes MMS For Favoring Big Oil

Law360, New York (March 29, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A former Interior Department auditor on Wednesday accused senior officials of the Minerals Management Service in a House panel hearing of playing favorites with Big Oil when it came to collecting royalties.

Auditor-turned-whistleblower Bobby L. Maxwell, who brought a civil suit against Kerr-McGee Corp. last year, said “there were statements made: ‘Don’t bother the oil companies’” while he was working for the MMS.
